Tools Required for Oak Door Installation

1. Unpacking the Oak Door Frame and Checking Dimensions

After unpacking the door frame, it is necessary to check the overall dimensions and compare them with the wall opening dimensions. The opening dimensions must be approximately 30 mm wider and 15 mm higher than the external dimensions of the frame. This clearance is required for proper alignment of the frame geometry and correct sealing. 

For interior doors installed in heated rooms, the humidity level must not exceed 13%.

2. Levelling the Floor Base

If the floor base is not level, spacer shims must be used under the frame at the lowest point. The gap between the floor and the bottom of the frame must not exceed 2 mm. If this gap is larger than the permitted tolerance, the height of one side of the frame must be adjusted by trimming.

3. Fixing and Adjusting the Door Frame 

The frame is fixed with screws in the upper corners. When installing on a floating floor, the screws should be driven at the top and on the sides (preferably), leaving the bottom parts free. Using a spirit level, the frame must be aligned vertically and horizontally.

4. Aligning the Door Frame Vertically to the Wall

Before aligning the door, it is recommended to remove the rubber seal from the upper frame part and the long side where the strike plate is installed. Close the door and align the frame so that the door leaf fits evenly against the frame, leaving a gap not larger than 1 mm.

5. Installing the Door Leaf

After unpacking the door leaf with external hinges, hang it on the frame.If the door leaf has concealed hinges, first install the upper hinge part on the leaf, then mount it onto the frame.

6. Checking Geometry with Spacers

A uniform gap of 2–3 mm must be maintained around the perimeter between the door leaf and the frame. The door leaf must sit evenly against the frame.

7. Tightening Fixing Screws

The installer decides whether Distafix fixing screws must be used. If the frame width is less than 250 mm, it is recommended to install one screw in the middle under the strike plate. If the wall is thicker, it is additionally recommended to install two screws at the bottom of the frame.

8. Drilling and Fastening

Drill the frame using a 6 mm wood drill bit. For masonry walls, use 6 mm wall plugs.

9. Using Expanding Foam

Expanding foam must be applied from both sides so that it completely fills the gap between the frame and the wall. After one hour, when the foam hardens, the wedges should be removed or cut off using a multi-function saw. Once the foam has fully cured, it is recommended to remove the upper wedges, while leaving the lower wedge near the hinge in place.

10. Installing the Architraves

The architraves may be cut at 45° or 90° angles, depending on the model. They are installed using glue and finishing nails, positioned 10–20 mm from the edge of the frame.

11. Adjusting the Strike Plate

After installing the door, adjust the strike plate in the frame. You can use a magnetic strike plate or a standard one.
